We continue to expand the range of plants grown from our own seeds. We will proudly label any plants we have grown from our own seed as such. We also grow with seeds and plugs purchased from other neonicitinoid free, native plant growers. Our shrubs are grown from plants divided or seeded from plants present on site or from bare root plants grown by reputable growers. We aim to find straight species and plants that are not exclusively cloned to promote genetic diversity and ecological integrity.
The beauty of local native plants is that they are adapted to our climate and acidic soil so dont need chemical fertilizers. We use site made wood chips and other organic mulches where needed to decrease weeds. I have dabbed some large cut stems in areas we are removing established invasive plants but we do a LOT of pulling, cutting, digging, weeding, and competitive replanting.
